Photosynthesis possible on Mars: NASA study
short by Pragya Swastik / on Sunday, 20 October, 2024
A NASA study proposes microbes could survive beneath the frozen water on the Martian surface. Through computer modelling, it was shown that the sunlight that can shine through water ice would be enough for photosynthesis in shallow pools of meltwater below the surface of that ice. Similar pools of water on Earth support algae, fungi and microscopic cyanobacteria.
