A Chilean astronomer has discovered a planet three times as large as Jupiter orbiting a red giant star, which is two times larger than the Sun, and located some 290 million light years away from Earth. The planet, designated as HD 110014 c, orbits its star at the same distance as Venus does around the Sun.
