Plants emit different odour when eaten by organisms: Study

A Germany-based study has found that plants emit different odour when eaten by insects or other small animals. This helps the plant to specifically attract natural enemies that feed on the herbivores eating them. The team also found that native plants can even recognise when they are being eaten by exotic herbivores, for which they emit a specific odour mixture.
