Plasma Physics: From Saturn's rings to fusion reactors
Researchers at IIT Jammu and IIT Kanpur used supercomputers to track the plasma. Simulating Kelvin-Helmholtz and Rayleigh-Taylor instabilities with LAMMPS, they uncovered how charged dust grains convert swirling fluid energy into microscopic heat that behaves like elastic rubber rather than a gas.
