The Supreme Court has refused to entertain a plea seeking court's directions to identify minorities based on their population at the state level. The plea said that the word "minority" to be defined and stated that although Hindus were in a minority in Ladakh, Mizoram, Lakshadweep, Kashmir etc they cannot avail of the rights accorded to minorities there.
