Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Japan on September 27 to attend the state funeral of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Thursday. He will also separately meet Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida during the visit. Abe was assassinated in July. Notably, protests were held in Japan against the state funeral.
