Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) ordered private hospitals, nursing homes, and medical establishments within its jurisdiction not to withhold dead bodies under any circumstances due to unpaid bills. According to Suryakant Devkar, PMC's assistant health officer, after completing medico-legal procedures, body must be handed over to relatives. PMC issued order under Bombay Nursing Homes Act, 1949.
