Moments after he secured victory in Ward 15 of Vadodara Municipal Corporation, Gujarat Police arrived to take Congress candidate Ashish Joshi into custody. He was named in an FIR under the Prohibition Act after nearly 300 liquor bottles allegedly meant for his campaign were seized days earlier. Joshi joined Congress after being suspended from BJP over "indiscipline" in May 2025.
