Inspector Sanjay Shinde, whose bullet reportedly killed Badlapur sexual assault accused Akshay Shinde, was part of former policeman Pradeep Sharma's team. Sharma, also called 'encounter specialist', and his team arrested Dawood Ibrahim's brother Iqbal Kaskar. Sanjay Shinde was suspended after he was accused of helping a murder accused Vijay Palande escape custody. He was reinstated in 2014.
