The man who spent over 70 years inside an iron lung after contracting polio at the age of six has died aged 78 in the US. Paul Alexander was paralysed from the neck down since 1952 and was unable to breathe by himself. Widely known as "Polio Paul", he went to college and became a lawyer and a published author.
