A portion of the gopuram (tower) of Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in Srirangam in Tamil Nadu's Trichy collapsed in the early hours of Saturday. No injuries were reported in the incident. The temple authorities said that efforts to remove the concrete debris were started. Recently, a sum of ₹98 lakh was sanctioned to renovate the 'gopuram'.
