A post making a false claim that late CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury was Christian has surfaced on social media. While Yechury was born into a Telugu-speaking Brahmin family, he had clarified that he was an atheist on multiple occasions. Notably, there has been no evidence that Christian traditions were followed at his funeral. Yechury's body was donated to AIIMS.
