Kinnar Akhara, a pro-transgender organisation, will hold post-death rituals in Varanasi for all transgenders who have recently died, with 151 priests performing the ceremonies. Notably, transgenders have always been buried and not cremated. The organisation's co-founder said, “Transgenders have been deprived of their right to a dignified end… we are making sure this does not happen any longer.”
