Nuclear campaigner who survived Nagasaki bombing dies at 88

Nuclear disarmament campaigner Sumiteru Taniguchi, who was delivering mail in Nagasaki when the US dropped an atomic bomb in 1945, died on Wednesday aged 88. He had been suffering from cancer. Aged 16 at the time of the bombing, Taniguchi had been roughly 1.8 kilometres from the epicentre of the blast and had suffered burns that took years to heal.
