Sri Lanka left-arm spinner Prabath Jayasuriya has broken the world record for being the fastest spinner to take 50 wickets in Test cricket, achieving the feat during the second Test against Ireland at Galle International Stadium. Prabath took seven Tests to take 50 wickets. West Indies' Alf Valentine was the previous fastest spinner to take 50 Test wickets (eight matches).
