Oman has made premarital medical tests mandatory for all couples planning to marry from January 1, 2026. According to the country's health ministry, the screening includes checks for genetic and inherited blood disorders, chronic illnesses and infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS and hepatitis. Failing to comply can lead to penalties including fines and short imprisonment.
