The Orissa High Court said the notion that a woman engages in intimacy with a man only to marry is “patriarchal”. The single judge bench also called for the law to recognise the same. The court was hearing a man's plea who was accused of having sexual intercourse with a woman for over nine years under a promise of marriage.
