The Supreme Court has ruled that prickly heat powder Nycil comes under the cosmetics category and not medicines. Nycil makers are, hence, liable to pay a higher rate of tax on the product, the apex court ruled while upholding the decisions of the Kerala and Madras High Courts. The product's maker challenged Kerala government's decision to impose a 20% tax.
