An RTI query has revealed that the cost of printing a Re 1 note is Rs 1.14 which is more than the value of the note. Notably, the printing of one rupee notes was discontinued in 1994 because of its high printing cost. The currency note was relaunched by the government this year after a gap of 2 decades.
