Protests and looting have started in parts of Venezuela, after the government demonetised the 100-bolivar notes, which constitute 48% of bills and coins in the country. Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro had made the surprise announcement last week amid the world's highest inflation. The government has also closed the country's border with Colombia, from which citizens used to buy daily goods.
