Geoffrey Hinton, who won the 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics along with John Hopfield, said he's proud of his former student who helped in Sam Altman's brief ouster from OpenAI. He was referring to Ilya Sutskever, OpenAI's former Chief Scientist, who completed his PhD under Hinton's supervision. "Sam Altman was much less concerned with safety than with profits," Hinton said.
