Insurance regulator IRDAI has asked insurance companies to provide comprehensive coverage for intending parents and surrogate mothers undergoing surrogacy and fertility treatments. As per IRDAI, the intending woman or couple can purchase a general health insurance coverage in favour of surrogate mother for a period of 36 months.
