Psychiatrist explains why the gut is like a person's second brain

The brain and gut are linked through the vagus nerve, forming the gut-brain axis. While the brain signals stress, nearly 90% of vagus nerve fibers carry messages from the gut to the brain. Dr Nidhi Kapadia says most serotonin is produced in the gut, with bacteria supporting mood chemistry. Disturbed gut balance triggers chronic stress, brain fog, and mental exhaustion.
