Publicly parading accused is impermissible, infringes human rights: HC

The Calcutta High Court observed that publicly parading an accused by the police is "impermissible" and "infringes human rights". "A culture has developed of parading accused. Once a person is arrested...they should be produced before a magistrate," court said. The remarks came while hearing a plea by TMC leader Saokat Molla, who challenged his alleged public parading during the investigation.
