Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday said that Sunil Jakhar's resignation from the post of Punjab Congress chief was "totally unnecessary". "Under Jakhar's leadership, Punjab Congress had defied all electoral trends at the national level and that of the majority of states," he added. Terming Jakhar's resignation an "emotional reaction", he asked party high command to not accept it.
