Punjabi-Mexican communities: Unique cultural fusion in California

A community of Punjabi-Mexican families was created when men from Punjab migrated to California. They met Mexican women who had immigrated after the Mexican Revolution. Faced with a racially discriminatory legal system they found comfort in shared cultural backgrounds-a love for spicy food and large families. Their children were referred to as half and halves and grew up speaking Spanish.
