The Queen of England owns all whales, dolphins and sturgeons in and around the waters of the UK. The law, passed in the year 1324, recognises them as 'Royal Fish'. Under the current law, an official known as 'Receiver of Wreck' is responsible to take possession of royal fish when they arrive on English shores.
