Queer partner can act as medical representative if nominated

The Centre and NMC told the Delhi High Court that a duly nominated queer partner may act as a patient's medical representative if the patient becomes incapacitated. They said there is no medical or ethical basis to exclude such partners solely because of sex, gender, sexual orientation or lack of legally recognised marriage.
