Quitting tobacco can economically uplift 2 cr Indian homes: Study

A study by BMJ Global Health found that quitting tobacco could help 2.05 crore Indian households move up one economic class. The study estimated that 1.29 lakh households could move up two economic categories, and 10,781 households could move up three economic categories by quitting tobacco. It further said that 70 lakh middle-income families could benefit from quitting tobacco.
