Indian author, artist, and poet Rabindranath Tagore was born on May 7, 1861, in Calcutta (now Kolkata, West Bengal). India's national anthem 'Jana Gana Mana' was written by Tagore originally. His famous works include 'Gitanjali' (a collection of poems) and 'The Home and the World' (a novel). Tagore was also awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913.
