The Railways has renamed its security force Railway Protection Force (RPF) as Indian Railway Protection Force Service. As per an order issued on Monday, the railway ministry accorded organised Group A status to RPF and renamed it. The force was established by Railway Protection Force Act, 1957, enacted by the Parliament for "the better protection and security of railway property".
