Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman allocated a capital expenditure of ₹2,62,200 crore for Railways in the Union Budget 2024. Hailing the budget, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, "A significant fund has been earmarked for safety related activities in Railways. In third term of this government, Railways has continued to get a boost."
