Indian Railways on Friday said it is installing a Real-Time Train Information System (RTIS) on locomotives to track their movement. The system, built in collaboration with the ISRO, is capable of providing "mid-section updates with a periodicity of 30 seconds", and tracking location and speed of trains without any manual intervention. The RTIS devices have been installed in 2,700 locomotives.
