Raise 'creamy layer' to Rs 10.5 lakh: OBC panel

The national commission of backward classes has recommended the Centre to raise the creamy layer criteria for OBCs from Rs 6.5 lakh to Rs 10.5 lakh annual income. The commission also sought to lower down the qualifying benchmark for the OBCs to fill the vacant 27% seats in Central jobs. 'Creamy layer' is the income ceiling for OBC's quota eligibility.
