Educationist and social reformer Raja Ram Mohan Roy, who was also known as the Father of Bengal Renaissance, breathed his last on September 27, 1833. Roy raised his voice against all forms of oppression and campaigned for the abolition of Sati practice. He also found the Brahmo Samaj in 1828 to create awareness about social reforms.
