A rare 11,000-carat ruby has been discovered in Mogok in Myanmar's upper Mandalay region. As per the state-run Global New Light of Myanmar, this is the second-largest ruby ever found in the country after the 21,450-carat ruby found in 1996, but it is more valuable. The newly-discovered ruby is a purplish-red colour and has yellowish undertones.
