A rare nine-legged octopus was found by a fisherman in Japan earlier this month after he noticed it had an unusual number of legs as it was being boiled. Octopuses generally have the ability to regenerate legs that are cut off, and this octopus likely added another in the process of closing a wound on a leg, a researcher said.
