Scientists from the Schmidt Ocean Institute have filmed a rare gulper eel with its stomach inflated from a recently eaten meal in a first-of-its-kind footage. It was filmed off the coast of Costa Rica at a depth of 2,090-metre. Gulper eels are also called Pelican eels for the ability to expand their throat and stomach into a massive, balloon-like scoop.
