RBI introduces CVA framework for banks from April 2027

RBI has introduced a Credit Valuation Adjustment (CVA) framework requiring banks to set aside extra capital against counterparty default risk in derivative contracts. Aligned with global Basel III standards, the rules take effect from April 2027. Small finance banks, payments banks, and local area banks are exempt from these new regulations.
