RBI proposes 60-day debit holds on suspicious transactions
RBI's draft rules propose temporary debit holds on suspicious transactions of ₹1,000 or more, with a 60-day cap. Banks may use AI-based monitoring tools to flag them. Account holders get 20 days to respond; banks must decide within 10-30 days. Rules may take effect April 1, 2027 whereas feedback shall be accepted until October 2.
