RBI proposes to ease foreign borrowing rules for firms

RBI proposed an overhaul of the External Commercial Borrowings framework, scrapping cost caps and linking corporate fundraising limits to borrowers' financial strength. This aims to ease corporate fundraising in foreign currencies, allowing firms to raise up to $1 billion or 300% of net worth, whichever is higher. It'll replace the earlier $1.5-billion cap under the automatic route.
