The UN estimated that rebuilding Gaza, devastated by conflict between Israel and Palestine, will cost nearly $70 billion. It added that Gaza's economy contracted by 87% between 2022-2024, pushing GDP per capita to $161, one of the lowest in the world. This is the steepest economic contraction on record, and has erased decades of progress across West Bank and Gaza.
