National Commission for Women (NCW) last year said that it received nearly 31,000 complaints of crimes committed against women in 2021, the highest since 2014. Over half of the complaints were from Uttar Pradesh, it added. A maximum of 11,013 complaints were related to the right to live with dignity, followed by those related to domestic violence at 6,633.
