Redefining wild: The vitality of Indian grasslands

Researchers from NCBS and ATREE have mapped the wildlife of large mammals in India's Deccan Peninsula. Their findings show that wide-ranging species like the Indian grey wolf, hyenas, and sloth bears (present in 76% of the area) rely on these open lands amongst pastoralists. Experts and activists have highlighted that it's time to protect these working landscapes from industrial sprawl.
