Reliance Jio has sought DoT approval to use 26 GHz 5G spectrum for WiFi, marking a shift in spectrum usage. This hybrid approach combines 5 GHz coverage with 26 GHz speed. The 26 GHz band, still maturing globally, offers SUC benefits. If approved, Bharti Airtel may follow. Jio invested ₹6,990 crore for 22,000 MHz in this band.
