Remains of new 'bear dog' species that weighed 200 kg found in France

The fossilised lower jaw bone of a new species of predators 'bear dogs' has been found in France. The bone came from 12.8 to 12 million-year-old marine deposits and had a unique fourth lower premolar tooth. 'Bear dogs' could weigh around 320 kg although the new species weighed about 200 kg. They became extinct around 7.5 million years ago.
