A recent study found that repeatedly cloning mice for several years triggers grave genetic mutations that accumulate over the generations and ultimately become fatal. Scientists produced 1,206 clones from one female between 2005 and 2025. By the 58th generation, mutation rates were three times higher than in naturally bred mice and all died soon after birth.
