A new report has warned that water stress in the river basin is increasing due to declining rainfall, higher temperatures and rising atmospheric demand. The assessment calls for region-specific water management, expanded rainwater harvesting, micro-irrigation, drought early warning systems and integration of climate trends into water and agriculture policies.
