Researchers from the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems, Germany, have developed a humanoid robot called "HuggieBot" that gives hugs to humans. The humanoid robot, which weighs about 204 kg, is almost as tall as a person and gives hugs varying in duration and firmness. Researchers claim that their goal is to demonstrate the ability of robots to comfort people.
