Researchers develop speaker that can direct sound to specific person

Researchers at Pohang University of Science and Technology have developed a low-cost speaker called MiPAL that can direct speech to a specific person. By modulating ultrasound with audible content, the system can deliver sound only within a targeted area. If commercialised, the technology could allow passengers on planes or trains to listen to personalised announcements, researchers said.
